They are dated to the 12th and 13th centuries (late Fatibid, Ayyubid, and early Mamluk periods).
Complete packs of poker cards were revealed during the mid-18th century but later were recognized as incomplete sets and were revealed to be a pack of 3 cards to replace missing cards. The complete Mamluk playing cards pack, which was found near Topkapi palace, originally contained 52 cards comprising four suits: polo sticks, coins, swords, and cups. Each suit contains ten pip cards and three count cards.
